Como Adventure Cove is a nature-inspired play area for children to learn about biodiversity which involves flora and fauna. The banyan tree tower is juxtaposed with the surrounding native planting and forest which frames it up. Children can swing, slide and climb on structures resembling parts of trees and trunks. These adaptive components will help introduce children to nature through play.

01
Design & Inspiration
Working in collaboration with Ramboll Studio Dreiseitl, the banyan tree tower is inspired from the existing tree ficus benghalensis (Banyan); a 10m lush tree with gracefully drooping branchlets. The 5.8m banyan tree tower mimic a ficus tree, standing strong with many trunkings featuring climbing, netting, swing; both the primary and lateral veins are prominent.

Excitement
Playpoint suggested raising the slides higher and introduced more play features to up the excitement. To encourage children’s bravery, they can climb up the 4m tall banyan tree tower and stand at the top to view out at the level of the forest canopy.

Closer to nature
Ficus tree has many veins and props touching the ground and we applied the same concept to the banyan tree tower with a total of 13 nos. of branches incorporated with climbing ropes attached to the meandering branches from the tree to allow children to navigate their way along the ropes without touching the ground.

Fabrication
Safety was a primary concern when working on bespoke playground such as Como Adventure Cove. Safety auditors are brought in during the engineering phase to ensure all safety precautions are checked by a 3rd party safety inspector before the factory starts manufacturing.

Planting
Professional Engineer was brought in to ensure the structure is sound and stable able to take the weight of both adults and children. A final inspection was conducted to make sure that the playground meets the Singapore Playground Safety Standard (SS457)

Finished Product
With the objective of creating a playground that blends with the forestry feel of the park, Playpoint worked with Kinetics, a bespoke playground specialist based in Malaysia, to create an organic tree like design with meandering post.

Zoom
At the top, there are 2 long adrenaline pumping tube slides; first platform at 2.1m and the second at 4m for children to slide down to the lower level of the playground. The slides are designed for fast motion and children would love to play it again and again.

Scaling New Heights
Ficus tree has many veins and props touching the ground and we applied the same concept to the banyan tree tower with a total of 13 nos. of branches incorporated with climbing ropes attached to the meandering branches from the tree to allow children to navigate their way along the ropes without touching the ground.
Ride on
We are incorporating a total of 5nos. of saga seed sparsely distributed around the playground with bouncing saga seeds attached to springs for younger children to sit. It also brings back old memories on how we collect the saga seed and keep them in bottle.

Jackfruit Climb
Artocarpus heterophyllus is commonly known as Jackfruit. The skin is systematically shape with thorns which act as the holding grips to allow children to climb. There will be different levels of difficulty ranging from gradual to steep. The jackfruit is designed to allow children of different ages to train their motor skills and coordination to climb up the jackfruit.
