Overview

Como Adventure Cove is a nature-inspired play area for children to learn about biodiversity which involves flora and fauna. The banyan tree tower is juxtaposed with the surrounding native planting and forest which frames it up. Children can swing, slide and climb on structures resembling parts of trees and trunks. These adaptive components will help introduce children to nature through play.

Inspiration

Working in collaboration with Ramboll Studio Dreiseitl, the banyan tree tower is inspired from the existing tree ficus benghalensis (Banyan); a 10m lush tree with gracefully drooping branchlets. The 5.8m banyan tree tower mimic a ficus tree, standing strong with many trunkings featuring climbing, netting, swing; both the primary and lateral veins are prominent.

Our
Process

DESIGN

Ficus tree has many veins and props touching the ground and we applied the same concept to the banyan tree tower with a total of 13 nos. of branches incorporated with climbing ropes attached to the meandering branches from the tree to allow children to navigate their way along the ropes without touching the ground.

Featured play areas

Zoom

At the top, there are 2 long adrenaline pumping tube slides; first platform at 2.1m and the second at 4m for children to slide down to the lower level of the playground. The slides are designed for fast motion and children would love to play it again and again.

Artocarpus heterophyllus is commonly known as Jackfruit. The skin is systematically shape with thorns which act as the holding grips to allow children to climb. There will be different levels of difficulty ranging from gradual to steep. The jackfruit is designed to allow children of different ages to train their motor skills and coordination to climb up the jackfruit.
