Dune Towers

Overview

The Dune Towers are two large twisted towers, cladded with diagonal beams of timber. The facade cladding offers a sneak peek into the interior, playing on light & darkness to create a sense of mystery for the child. The interiors of the towers consist of various climbing routes with plateaus and climbing ropes that allow for different routes and difficulty levels.

Inspiration

Inspired by natural dunes, twisted rock formations, and the way light filters through forest canopies, the Dune Towers capture the essence of discovery within nature. The diagonal timber beams mimic shifting sands and layered landscapes, while the play of light and shadow sparks curiosity. This design invites children to explore hidden spaces, just as they would in caves, dunes, or dense woodland.

Design

The design features twisted vertical towers clad with timber beams, offering a semi-transparent facade that intrigues children to look inside. Inside, multiple climbing paths with varying challenges encourage both physical skill and decision-making. Platforms and ropes create layered routes, ensuring that each climb feels unique. Together, the towers balance architectural beauty with adventurous play, providing a landmark structure that is as visually striking as it is engaging for children.

The Twisted Bridge

At three metres in height, the towers are connected with a bridge that shares the same twisted form as the towers. Here, children can experience the height through the dazzling kaleidoscopic effect of the timber planks.
