Play Boxes

Overview

Inspired by the Interlace condominium in Singapore, the Play Boxes are creatively designed using laser-cut metal sheets stacked in layers, giving them a transparent and modern look with custom-made patterns. Each box offers unique play experiences: the Slide Box features a plastic slide, lounging net, and climbing tunnel; the Maze Box connects the play structures with crawl tunnels, encouraging exploration and movement; while the Swing Box includes mini hammocks, ropes, and swings, creating a relaxing yet playful space where children can unwind and enjoy themselves.

Inspiration

The design draws inspiration from the bold geometry of the Interlace condominium, where stacked volumes redefine space and interaction. Translating this architectural concept into play, the boxes mimic stacked modules, layered with playful patterns that invite children to explore, climb, and connect. The transparency of the laser-cut surfaces creates a sense of openness, echoing the way Interlace reshapes urban living into interconnected experiences.

Design

Play Boxes are designed as modular units that combine architecture and play into one. The stacked arrangement creates varying heights and pathways, encouraging climbing, crawling, and sliding between spaces. Each box is dedicated to a different form of play active, exploratory, or relaxing while the metal sheets provide durability and a unique visual identity. The result is a modern playground structure that celebrates movement, discovery, and creativity within an architectural framework.
